Onion Chives SEEDS – Chinese Leek – Untreated & Heirloom – Allium schoenoprasum – Perennial Herb

Non-GMO, non-hybrid, open-pollinated, no chemically treated, heirloom seeds. The flavor of onion chives is softer, and more subtle, compared to the taste of onion and garlic. Onion chives herb is very popular in Europe and makes a fantastic addition to all sorts of dishes. “Chives also contain many vitamins and mineral nutrients as well as flavonoid compounds, which are antioxidants. Among all Allium species, chives have the highest content of vitamin C and beta-carotene. (Chen, 2005)” It is a perennial herb that is cold-resistant. It grows best in full sun. The beautiful flowers attract beneficial insects. It will happily grow in a pot, too.

Planting and growing tips: Sow in early autumn and winter in warm climates, and in spring, summer, and autumn in cooler regions. Oregano is a hardy and easy to grow plant, however, the better the soil, the quicker and better it will grow. It doesn’t like to sit in water so a well-drained position is best. All our edibles grow happily and quickly in raised garden beds.
