Non-GMO, non-hybrid, open-pollinated, no chemically treated, heirloom seeds. Lima bean is a perennial bean that grows up to 7 years in a warm climate. Very tasty and easy to grow. Lima bean is a fantastic substitute for butter and broad beans, and is much easier to grow in warm climates. You can enjoy the beans fresh in stir fries and soups while still whitish in colour. The ripe and dry beans can be stored in a dry place for months and cooked like any other dry beans.

Planting and growing tips: Placing the seeds in water for 24 hours before putting them into the soil will speed up the germination process. Lima bean is an easy-to-grow plant, that loves the sun and moderate watering, however, the better the soil, the quicker and better it will grow. It doesn’t like to sit in water so a well-drained position is best. All our edibles grow happily and quickly in slightly raised garden beds. The first beans should form within a couple of months after sowing depending on the growing conditions.

- Most of our nursery plants grow in a half-shade. Introducing them to the sun slowly will promote their healthy growth after replanting to their permanent position.
